Chemical or organic sunscreen for the face
Chemical or organic sunscreens are usually very lightweight and pleasant to use, and they do not leave a white residue on the skin. A chemical sunscreen filter absorbs the harmful UV rays from the sun, preventing them from damaging the skin. Simply put, chemical sunscreen molecules act like tiny factories that absorb UV radiation and convert it into a form (mainly heat) that does not cause skin cancer or premature aging (to the same extent).
Hybrid sunscreens contain both physical and chemical sunscreen filters, which is a very typical solution for Korean sunscreens. This way, you get the best of both types; the beautiful, slightly pore-covering finish provided by physical protection and the light, fresh texture brought by the chemical filter.
Does sunscreen need time to take effect before it works?
One of the most persistent myths about using sunscreen is that it needs to be absorbed into the skin for a certain time before it works. This is not really true. Sunscreen should be applied before going outside, but no sunscreen needs time to "activate."
The traditional 15-minute waiting recommendation is based on allowing the sunscreen to settle on the skin so it doesn’t get wiped off by clothing or movement.
If you apply makeup after putting on sunscreen, it’s definitely best to let the sunscreen settle properly on your skin for about 5-10 minutes before applying makeup. This ensures you don’t accidentally wipe off all the sunscreen you just applied while putting on makeup.
